Corn Whiskies
Corn whiskies are distilled from a mash made up of at least 80% maize (also called 'corn'), traditionally with enough barley for fermentation and to produce whiskey flavor, and commonly a third grain for accent. There are different types of corn whiskey.
Classic Corn Whiskey
Classic corn whiskey is distilled from a mash containing some malted barley, some rye, and at least 80% maize.
Filtered Corn Whiskey
Filtered corn whiskey is distilled from a mash containing some malted barley, some rye, and at least 80% maize, and filtered through charcoal for purification and flavor-reduction before aging. If it is produced that way in Tennessee, it can be legally marketed as "Tennessee whiskey."
Supermajority Corn Whiskey
Supermajority corn whiskey is distilled from a mash of at least 94% maize – with either malted grain, or liquid enzymes, for fermentation.
