Fortified Wines are true wines having been fortified with distilled ethanol, normally brandywine.


Vins Doux Naturels are usually-sweet fortified wines from the south of France, including Banyuls, Maury, Rivesaltes, and Rasteau.

VINS DOUX NATURELS

Fortified Sherry Wines are made in the Sherry [Xérès|Jerez] area of Spain. They include Fino, Manzanilla, Amontillado, Oloroso, Pedro Ximénez, Pale, and Cream, Sherry wines.

FORTIFIED SHERRY WINES

Fortified Madeira Wines are made on the Portuguese island of Madeira. They include Sercial, Verdelho, Boal, Malmsey, Tinto Negra, Terrantez, and Rainwater, Madeira wines.

FORTIFIED MADEIRA WINES

Port Wines are made in the Douro valley of Portugal. They include Ruby Port Wines (itself including Standard Ruby, Vintage, and Late-bottled Vintage), and White Port Wines.

PORT WINES

Aromatized Wines are made by macerating aromatic ingredients in the fortifying spirit before adding it to the wine. They include Vermouth Wines, Quinquina Wines, Gentian Wine, and Ginger Wine.
