Distillates

Distillates are alcoholic beverage products containing non-incidental amounts of distilled ethanol.

Spirits are distillates sold without more than moderate amounts of water, or minimal amounts of sweeteners, added. Spirits include direct spirits (brandies, whiskies, taadi spirits), geist spirits, and neutral spirits.

Liqueurs are distillates sold with appreciable amounts of sweeteners, and often extra flavorings, added. Liqueurs include French-style liqueurs, flavored spirit liqueurs, and ratafia liqueurs.

Bitters are distillates used to macerate bitter ingredients. Most bitters are also sweetnened.
