Slings

Slings are mixed drinks in which the strong element is moderately sweetened and diluted – and usually aromatized.

Traditional slings are aromatized with spices – nutmeg being the default.

Toddies are slings aromatized with citrus zest – lemon zest being the default.

Cocktails, historically also known as bittered slings, are slings aromatized with bitters.

Juleps are slings aromatized with herbs – mint being the default.

Cobblers are slings served with ice in them – the top of which is cobbled with fruit.

Wine slings are slings based on wine. Cups are wine slings containing moderate amounts of charged water.
