Juleps
Juleps are herbed Slings. The terminus ante quem for the Julep is a publication A.D. 1784.
The default herb in juleps is mint. Basil is also advised, especially with gin.
Plain Juleps are sweetened with plain, white sugar, or with simple syrup made of it and water.
Fancy Juleps are sweetened, at least in part, by ingredients that have both sweetness, and other flavors.
