Palm Spirits

Palm Spirits are distilled from true taadi, being the fermented nectar of palm blossoms.

There are different types of palm spirits.

Ceylon Arrack is from Sri Lanka and is fermented and distilled from coconut palm blossom nectar. Some of it is bottled unaged. Some of it is aged and then bottled. Much of it is blended with neutral sugarcane spirit.

India Arracks are distilled from different species of palm, regionally. Goa arrack (coconut feni) is distilled from coconut palm nectar. Palmyra arrack is distilled from Palmyra palm in southern India. Date palm arrack and silver palm arrack are distilled in other areas.

Lambanogs are distilled in the Philippines from different species of palm, regionally. Coconut lambanog is distilled from coconut palm nectar, especially in Quezon and Laguna. It is the only form imported to the U.S.A. Nipa palm, sugar palm, and buri palm is used in other areas.
